The Science of Hope

 

A few years ago a physician named Dr. Emil Kakkis helped found Biomarin. Now highly successful and well-respected, its original purpose was to develop treatments and cures for what are called 'orphaned diseases.' These are ailments so rare that big pharma can't touch them. Some of these problems may have only several hundred patients, most of them children. There was no way the latest science and technology would be put to work to help. Until Dr Kakkis. And today, Biomarin is doing 'The Science of Hope.'
